Oh how this place could be so much better! It has a captured market and rather be master, the management appear happy with providing average fare. Something of an anticlimax, everytime. So could give The George Stamford a run for its money, sadly no sign of those aspirations.
I ordered a super food salad , which costs 12 as a main. It came and was a tiny handful of lettuce leaves and a sprinkling of quinoa- this would be a tiny side salad at best. I asked for it to come back as a main and to include more vegetables and what was stated on the menu. While it came back as a more substantial portion, it included cubes of carrots that were clearly going to be used for a roast dinner later. Grated carrots would be more appropriate for a salad. It was dry and without dressing, I then had to ask again for some olive oil. Over all very over priced, for food which lacks flavour and finesse. It was a very expensive bill for a family meal and was not worth it. My sister's lunch included some strange grey unidentifiable vegetable, overall very disappointing.
We came to a wedding here on Friday the 28th, I can highly recommend the Talbot! Unfortunately after the wedding breakfast one of our part became very ill (nothing to do with the hotel) and the staff were amazing! They could not have done a better job if they'd tried. Well done to all of you.
Had lunch here today the portion sizes are the smallest I've every seen for what they charge. My main cost 17:00 & my husband was 14:00. They seem to put Presentation over Substance I needed a magnifying glass to find my vegetables. Very disappointing and not good value for money. I decided not to have a dessert because another customer complain about the enormous plate with the smallest dessert in the world. We had coffee which was very nice. The service was very slow waited 20+minutes for one glass of wine which I had to ask for again, other diners were waiting lengthy times and they were not busy only 4 tables in the main restaurant being used.I think it will be a while before we go back which is sad because we got married their 2 yrs ago and it holds fond memories. On a brighter note the venue is a smart establishment and staff are very friendly and welcoming.
The staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was lovely (like home cooking) and plenty of it as well. Very reasonable prices. The only downside was the fact that the dining area was extremely cold.We would visit this place again though.
